Voornaamwoorden na een prepositie
After a preposition, Dutch uses object pronouns — not subject pronouns. So you say met hem (with him), never met hij.

Practice: Ik ga met ___ naar het feest. (him)
hem — After met use the object form hem, not hij: Ik ga met hem naar het feest.
Practice: Ze woont bij ___. (us)
ons — After bij use ons: Ze woont bij ons.
Dutch does not allow subject pronouns (<em>ik, jij, hij, zij, wij</em>) directly after a preposition. Always switch to the object form.
Practice: Hij wacht op ___. (me)
mij — After op you need the object form mij, not ik: Hij wacht op mij.
Practice: Ze kopen een cadeau voor ___. (them)
hen — After voor the object form for "them" is hen: Ze kopen een cadeau voor hen.
The full, stressed form is <strong>jou</strong> and is standard in writing. In informal speech <em>je</em> is also very common after a preposition — both are correct.
Practice: Ik doe dit voor ___, niet voor hem. (you — contrast)
jou — When contrasting or emphasising, use the stressed form jou: Ik doe dit voor jou, niet voor hem.
